Federal Government Confirms Portal Is Open for ₦50 Million Student Venture Grant – Apply Now following the guidelines below…

The Federal Government has confirmed that applications are ongoing for the ₦50 Million Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG), a funding programme created to support serious student founders in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The grant, announced by the Federal Ministry of Education, is open through the official portal at svcg.education.gov.ng.

Students with strong ideas in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical sciences are encouraged to submit their applications while the portal remains active.

What This Grant Is About

The Student Venture Capital Grant is designed to support student-led ventures that show real potential for growth and practical use.

Selected applicants can receive up to ₦50 million in funding. The support is structured as an equity-free grant, meaning beneficiaries do not give up ownership of their projects.

According to the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, the programme aims to identify student founders building solutions that can grow into strong Nigerian companies.

Who Should Take This Opportunity Seriously?

This grant is not for casual ideas written overnight.

It is best suited for:

  • Students already working on a prototype or early-stage project

  • Founders building solutions to practical problems

  • Teams with technical knowledge and a clear direction

  • Undergraduates in 300-level and above in accredited institutions

If you have been developing a product, testing an idea, or running a small campus-based venture, this is the type of programme to consider.

Types of Ventures This Grant Is For

The programme focuses mainly on projects in STEMM areas. Students working in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

Technology and Software Development

Energy and Environmental Solutions

Students working on serious, solution-driven ideas in these areas stand a stronger chance of being considered.

Funding and Support Structure

Beyond the financial award, selected students will receive guidance to help strengthen their ventures.

The programme is being implemented in partnership with the Bank of Industry to ensure proper management and monitoring of funds.

This partnership is meant to support transparency and responsible use of the grant.

Why Students Should Apply Early

High-value grants usually attract strong competition.

Submitting early can help you avoid technical delays and gives you time to correct mistakes before final submission.

Before applying, ensure that:

  • Your student status can be verified

  • Your idea is clearly explained

  • Your proposal shows how the funding will be used

  • All required documents are complete

Incomplete or unclear submissions may affect your chances.

How to Apply

Eligible students can apply through the official portal:
