The Nigerian Army has officially announced the commencement of its Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29 for 2026. This recruitment exercise is aimed at qualified Nigerians who possess professional and technical skills needed by the Army in specialized areas.

Through the DSSC programme, successful applicants will be commissioned as officers and deployed into various corps and services where their expertise is required.

The application process is completely free and open to both civilians and serving military personnel who meet the stated requirements.

What Is the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)?

The Direct Short Service Commission is a recruitment pathway designed to bring professionals with specific qualifications directly into the Nigerian Army as officers.

Unlike regular combat recruitment, the DSSC focuses on technical, medical, educational, and support services that require trained professionals. Candidates selected under this scheme will undergo military training and, after completion, will be commissioned into appropriate corps.

The DSSC appointment is for a fixed service period, with the possibility of conversion to a Regular Commission depending on performance and the needs of the Nigerian Army.
