This short-term consultancy supports a national health planning initiative aimed at improving access to primary healthcare services across Nigeria.

National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA)

NPHCDA is a federal government agency responsible for coordinating and strengthening primary healthcare services across Nigeria. The agency plays a key role in health planning, implementation, and monitoring at national and community levels.

Both organisations are partnering on this project to improve health data quality and healthcare access, especially in underserved communities.

Project Overview: NPHCDA IE and Workthrough Microplanning Exercise

This project involves nationwide enumeration and data collection to support:

• Improved health planning and service delivery

• Better allocation of healthcare resources

• Stronger monitoring and evaluation of health programmes

• Increased access to essential health services at the community level

Data collected from this exercise will directly inform primary healthcare decisions across Nigeria.

Position Details

• Position Title: Ward Level Consultant (Data Collection Officer)

• Engagement Type: Short-term consultancy

• Deployment Location: Ward level across all states in Nigeria

• Project: NPHCDA IE and Workthrough Microplanning Exercise

Roles and Responsibilities

Selected consultants will be required to:

• Conduct accurate data collection within assigned wards

• Follow approved data collection guidelines and protocols

• Engage community members, leaders, and health workers respectfully

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all collected data

• Use assigned data collection tools correctly

• Submit reports promptly to supervisors

• Maintain confidentiality of all information collected

• Participate in required training and orientation sessions

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess at least one of the following:

• Ordinary National Diploma (OND)

• National Certificate in Education (NCE)

• Higher National Diploma (HND)

• Bachelor’s Degree

Relevant fields include Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Community Development, or related disciplines.

Experience and Skills

• Previous experience in data collection, surveys, or enumeration is an advantage

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Basic knowledge of mobile data tools such as KoboToolbox is an added advantage

Local Knowledge Requirement

• Applicants must live in, or be very familiar with, the ward they are applying to serve

• Priority will be given to candidates with strong local knowledge of the community
