Many trainees under the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme have raised concerns that their attendance records are not appearing on their dashboards. This has caused anxiety, especially as stipend payments are now tied strictly to biometric attendance.

If your TVET attendance record is not showing, it does not automatically mean there is a problem with your enrolment. Below are the key reasons this happens and what you should expect.

1. Your Training Centre Has Not Fully Deployed Biometric Devices

One of the most common reasons is that some training centres are yet to complete the installation or activation of the required biometric attendance systems.

Although the Federal Ministry of Education directed all centres to deploy biometric devices, not every centre began capturing attendance at the same time. Centres that delay deployment cannot upload attendance records to the central TVET system.

Until biometric capture starts at your centre, no attendance data will reflect on your dashboard.

2. Attendance Data Is Uploaded in Batches, Not Instantly

Even where biometric devices are active, attendance records are not always updated in real time on trainee dashboards.

In many cases:

  • Attendance is captured daily

  • Data is synced periodically

  • Verification is completed before records go live

This means there may be a delay of several days before your attendance appears online. This delay is normal and does not affect your eligibility if your attendance was properly captured.

3. Temporary Technical Issues on the TVET Platform

System slowdowns, network interruptions, or backend verification checks can also affect visibility of records.

During nationwide programmes like TVET, large volumes of data are processed at once. As a result, some dashboards may not display updated attendance immediately, even though the records already exist in the system.

These issues usually resolve without any action from trainees.

4. Incomplete or Incorrect Biometric Capture

Attendance will only reflect if:

  • Your fingerprint or facial data was properly captured

  • You checked in using the approved biometric device

  • The device successfully synced with the system

If a trainee missed biometric capture on certain days or the device failed to authenticate correctly, those days may not appear on the dashboard.

FG Enforces Mandatory Biometric Attendance From February 1, 2026

The Federal Ministry of Education has officially commenced full enforcement of biometric attendance verification across all TVET centres.

This directive follows a circular issued in December 2025, mandating all accredited training centres to procure and deploy biometric systems for attendance monitoring.

From February 1, 2026, biometric verification became the only approved method for validating TVET attendance.

Payments and Stipends Now Linked Strictly to Biometric Records

According to the Ministry:

  • Payments to training centres are processed only with verified biometric data

  • Monthly stipends to trainees depend entirely on attendance records

  • Centres that fail to comply will not receive payment

  • Trainees in non-compliant centres risk losing stipends

Persistent failure by any centre may lead to removal from the programme, with affected trainees redeployed to compliant centres where possible.

What Trainees Should Do Now

If your TVET attendance record is not showing:

  1. Confirm that your centre has started biometric attendance capture

  2. Ensure you check in daily using the approved device

  3. Allow time for system updates and verification

  4. Avoid relying on manual or paper attendance — it is no longer valid

There is no need to panic or submit complaints immediately if biometric capture has begun.

Training Centres and Accreditation Reminder

Prospective and existing training centres must be accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Applications and compliance updates are handled through the official NBTE TVET portal:

Closing Update

The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to improving accountability and transparency in the TVET Programme. Trainees are advised to stay engaged with their centres and rely only on official information channels.

Attendance records will continue to be updated as biometric verification is fully implemented nationwide.
