The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has confirmed that applications are still open for new TVET trainers and training centres for the 2026 cycle.

This application is for individuals and institutions interested in becoming approved trainers under the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, which is currently running across the country.

Once accredited, approved trainers and centres will be eligible to train beneficiaries under the TVET programme and receive government funding.

What Is the TVET Trainer Application About?

The TVET trainer application allows qualified training providers to register on the NBTE digital portal and obtain official accreditation to operate under the FG TVET programme.

The programme is designed to equip Nigerians with practical, job-ready skills across different vocational and technical fields. To maintain standards, only NBTE-accredited trainers are allowed to participate.

FG Opens New TVET Trainer Application 2026 for STCs, VEIs & MCPs

Who Can Apply for TVET Trainer Accreditation 2026?

The Federal Government is inviting applications from the following categories:

  • Skill Training Centres (STCs)

  • Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)

  • Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Accreditation under any of these categories allows you to officially train candidates under the TVET programme.

NBTE Requirements for Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)

Training centres applying as Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs) must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)

  • Must adopt and use National Skills Qualification (NSQ)-based curricula

  • At least one qualified instructor per trade

  • Maintain an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:40

  • Each trade must have:

    • A Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA)

    • An Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM)
      (Part-time engagement is allowed if full-time staff are unavailable)

  • Must have basic physical facilities, including:

    • Workshops or training spaces

    • Offices

    • Classrooms

    • Restrooms

  • Evidence of past training activities, such as:

    • Previous programmes conducted

    • Levels of training offered

    • Certificates previously awarded

NBTE Requirements for Skill Training Centres (STCs)

Applicants registering as Skill Training Centres (STCs) must provide:

  • CAC registration

  • Adoption of NSQ-based curricula

  • At least one qualified instructor or senior artisan per programme with NSQ Level 3 certification

  • At least:

    • One Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA)

    • One certified IQAM (or part-time equivalent)

  • Adequate technical and support staff

  • Functional facilities such as:

    • Workshops or studios

    • Offices

    • Restrooms

  • Records showing previous training experience and certifications issued

NBTE Requirements for Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Individuals applying as Mastercraft Persons (MCPs) must meet the following:

  • Possess either:

    • CAC registration, or

    • National Identification Number (NIN)

  • Use NSQ-based curricula

  • Have at least one qualified or experienced artisan with NSQ Level 3 certification

  • Maintain a 1:5 trainer-to-trainee ratio

  • Provide basic training facilities, including:

    • Workshops

    • Restrooms

  • Show evidence of previous training activities and certificates issued

What Accredited TVET Trainers Stand to Gain

Once accredited by NBTE:

  • You become eligible to train beneficiaries under the FG TVET programme

  • Training centres and trainers can receive government payments for approved trainees

  • You gain official recognition as an NBTE-approved TVET training provider
