The Federal Government has begun paying the ₦25,000 monthly stipend under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme, with beneficiaries across the country already receiving bank alerts.

Several vulnerable households have confirmed receipt of the payment, while screenshots of credit alerts have been widely shared on social media platforms, particularly Facebook. Many of the posts indicate that payments are ongoing and reaching verified beneficiaries.

The disbursement is being handled by the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), with payments reported to have started on December 19. Beneficiaries are receiving the funds directly into their bank accounts, marking a shift away from the former system of physical cash payments at the ward level.

One of the payment alerts circulating online reads:

Amount: NGN25,000.00
Date: 19-DEC-2025
Description: National Social Programme”

According to information gathered, the current round of payments is targeted at households that are yet to receive all three tranches of the support. Each eligible household is entitled to a total of ₦75,000, paid in three instalments of ₦25,000.

Government officials say the aim is to ensure that all outstanding payments are completed before the end of the year.

Payments Now Through Bank Transfers

Under the updated payment structure, beneficiaries will no longer receive cash physically through State Cash Transfer Units at the ward level. Instead, all payments are now made via direct bank transfers.

This change is intended to improve transparency, reduce delays, and ensure funds reach beneficiaries more efficiently.

15 Million Households Targeted

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has confirmed that the Federal Government is targeting over 15 million households nationwide under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer programme.

The beneficiaries are selected from the National Social Register, which contains data on verified poor and vulnerable households across Nigeria.

Officials have clarified that there is no public registration portal for the programme. Selection is based strictly on existing records, and only households with a National Identification Number (NIN) and a functional bank account are eligible to receive payments.

What Beneficiaries Should Know

Households that have not yet received alerts have been advised to remain patient, as payments are being processed in batches. Government sources say eligible beneficiaries will be credited once their turn is reached.

The December ₦25,000 payment forms part of the Federal Government’s ward-based development initiative, designed to channel social support directly to communities across 8,809 wards in Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.

As disbursement continues, beneficiaries are encouraged to rely only on official information and avoid individuals or platforms claiming to offer registration or payment assistance for a fee.
