The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that payment of the approved ₦50,000 lunch and transport allowance for candidates who took part in the recent Civil Service Computer Based Test will commence from tomorrow, December 31.

The allowance was approved to support applicants who travelled from different parts of the state to participate in the recruitment examination. According to the government, the CBT exercise was designed to promote transparency, fairness, and merit in the civil service recruitment process by ensuring that all candidates were assessed under the same conditions.

Reacting to reports circulating on social media, the state government clarified that the funds earmarked for the allowance have not been diverted. Officials described such claims as misleading and reassured candidates that payment arrangements are already in place.

The government explained that the delay experienced before now was due to the verification and reconciliation of candidate records to ensure that only eligible participants receive the allowance. This process, it said, is necessary to avoid errors, duplicate payments, or exclusion of qualified beneficiaries.

Candidates who participated in the CBT examination have been advised to regularly check their email addresses, as payment notifications and further instructions will be sent directly to them. Beneficiaries are also encouraged to remain patient and rely only on official communication channels for updates.

The Civil Service CBT examination forms part of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s broader effort to strengthen public service delivery by recruiting qualified personnel through a transparent and technology driven process. The administration noted that supporting candidates with transport and feeding allowances reflects its commitment to fairness and inclusion, especially for applicants who incurred expenses to attend the examination.

Eligible candidates are expected to receive their allowances within the approved payment window as the disbursement process begins.
