The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the opening of its recruitment portal for ad-hoc staff for the 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council Election. The application platform is hosted on INECPRES and is intended to register qualified residents of the FCT who wish to support the smooth conduct of the elections. Only applicants who live in the FCT are eligible to participate.

The recruitment covers various roles including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Technology Support Staff, and RAC Managers. Each position has specific eligibility requirements based on professional background, education, and experience.

Supervisory Presiding Officers are expected to be permanent staff of the federal civil service, federal or state ministries, departments and agencies, or INEC staff not currently engaged in other election duties, typically within Grade Levels 10 to 14. Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers can include serving NYSC corps members, former NYSC members who completed service between 2022 and 2025, INEC permanent staff on Grade Levels 07 and 08, and suitably qualified staff from federal or state MDAs. Penultimate students in federal tertiary institutions may also apply.

RAC Managers are selected from the institutions hosting the RAC or Super RAC centres, including heads of schools or qualified staff at Grade Level 07 and above. Registration Area Technology Support Staff positions are reserved for INEC ICT personnel at state or national offices who are not engaged in other election assignments.

Applicants are required to be free from political affiliations and must not have shown support for any political party or candidate. Residency within the FCT is mandatory for all applicants except for RATECHSS roles, which are limited to INEC staff.

The recruitment portal opened on Monday, 29th December 2025 at 8:00 AM and will close on Saturday, 19th January 2026 at midnight.

Applicants are advised to follow official channels closely and avoid unofficial websites or services claiming to offer early access or application assistance.

Ngempower.com encourages all prospective applicants to prepare necessary documents, confirm eligibility, and submit applications through the official portal to ensure participation in the 2026 FCT Area Council Election recruitment exercise.
