The Federal Government has clarified that registration for Batch B of the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) has not yet commenced, putting to rest growing speculation that the next phase of the programme is already open.

Government officials explained that preparations for the second phase of YEIDEP are scheduled to begin around the middle of 2026, stressing that fresh registrations will only be announced when the current phase has been fully concluded. The clarification was made during a recent stakeholders’ engagement, where authorities addressed concerns and online claims suggesting that Batch B registration was already underway.

According to the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, YEIDEP was intentionally structured to run in phases to allow for proper coordination, monitoring, and system strengthening. He said the government is avoiding overlapping registration cycles in order to ensure accountability and long-term sustainability of the programme.

Olawande explained that earlier stages of YEIDEP were focused on planning, data validation, and institutional coordination, adding that rushing into new intakes without completing these processes could undermine outcomes. He noted that Phase Two activities are expected to align with mid-year timelines, broadly around June and July, rather than the early months of the year when Phase One processes are still ongoing.

The minister also addressed the confusion caused by claims on social media that the YEIDEP portal is currently accepting applications for Batch B. He maintained that no official announcement has been made to open new registrations and advised interested youths to rely only on verified government communication.

NgEmpower.com notes that it had earlier reported that the YEIDEP portal appeared accessible for subsequent registrations, including Batch C, based on checks carried out at the time and information circulating across official-linked platforms. However, further clarification from programme coordinators has now confirmed that portal visibility does not amount to an active registration exercise. Officials say the system remains in place for administrative purposes while new intakes await formal approval and rollout. This update helps align public understanding with the government’s current schedule and underscores the importance of verified announcements before taking action.

Officials involved in the programme said the phased approach allows implementing agencies and financial partners to review performance, resolve challenges, and improve delivery systems before expanding to a new group of beneficiaries. They added that this method supports transparency and protects both participants and public resources.

The government reaffirmed that clear communication will precede the opening of any new registration window and that interested youths will be guided on how and when to apply once Batch B is officially announced.

For Applicants Seeking Clarity

YEIDEP Batch B registration has not opened yet. The portal being accessible does not mean applications are being accepted. Official registration will only begin after a formal government announcement. Applicants are advised to disregard unofficial claims and wait for confirmed updates to avoid confusion or misinformation.
