The Federal Government has opened registration for the 3MTT NextGen Fellowship, a free digital skills programme created to train Nigerian youths in practical technology skills.

The fellowship is open to young people across Nigeria and is part of the government’s plan to support skills development and improve access to technology-based jobs. Registration for the current cohort is ongoing and will close on 31 January 2026.

What the 3MTT NextGen Fellowship Is

The 3MTT NextGen Fellowship is a training programme that focuses on hands-on learning rather than classroom theory. It is supported by the Airtel Africa Foundation and targets youths who want to build usable digital skills.

Participants are guided through structured lessons, practical assignments, and supervised projects. The goal is to help learners gain skills they can apply immediately after the programme.

Digital Skills Covered in the Programme

The fellowship offers training in several areas of technology, including:

  • Software development

  • Data science

  • UI/UX design

  • Cloud computing

  • Cybersecurity

  • Product management

  • Artificial intelligence

Each participant follows a learning track and works on tasks related to that area throughout the programme.

While a laptop is recommended, some learning activities can also be completed using a smartphone. Applicants are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid interruptions during lessons and assignments.

Time Required Per Week

Participants should expect to spend several hours each week on learning activities. This includes watching lessons, completing assignments, attending virtual sessions, and working on projects. Time requirements may differ depending on the chosen learning track.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

Progress during the 3MTT fellowship is measured through assessments, project submissions, and active participation. These assessments help track learning and ensure that participants are gaining the required skills.
