NYCN Calls for Applications: AU Digital & Innovation Fellowship 2026 ($2,500 Monthly)

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has encouraged qualified and motivated young Nigerians to apply for the African Union Digital & Innovation Fellowship 2026/2027.

According to a statement from NYCN’s Director of Digital Literacy and Innovation, Tope Peter, the fellowship offers young professionals the opportunity to contribute to digital transformation and innovation within African Union institutions.

The announcement was signed by Benjamin Onileowo, NYCN’s Spokesperson.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive a comprehensive support package for 12 months, including:

  • $2,500 monthly stipend

  • Equipment support of up to $800

  • Learning and development budget of $500

  • Access to bootcamps and training sessions

  • Opportunity to participate in an international delegation trip

The programme is designed to support young professionals with the tools and resources needed to work effectively within AU institutions.

Available Technical Tracks

The fellowship features 12 specialised technical tracks, including:

  • Data Analytics & Monitoring Systems

  • Digital Product & Programme Systems

  • Digital Communications

  • ERP SAP and Business Intelligence

  • Full-Stack Development

  • HR Digital Systems and Processes

  • Other digital and innovation-focused roles

Selected fellows will support projects such as:

  • Improving digital infrastructure

  • Developing interactive dashboards

  • Modernising human resource systems

  • Automating internal workflows

  • Strengthening data-driven decision-making processes

Programme Implementation

The fellowship is hosted by the African Union and implemented by enpact, with support from the GIZ DataCipation Program. The programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

This collaboration ensures that fellows work within structured systems and gain exposure to continental-level projects.

Who Should Apply?

Applications are open to passionate young Nigerians who:

  • Have relevant digital or technical skills

  • Are interested in working within African Union institutions

  • Want to build experience in innovation and policy support

  • Are ready to commit to a 12-month fellowship programme

NYCN advised applicants to carefully review the terms of reference for each fellowship position and ensure their skills match the selected track.
