The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has announced the opening of applications for the 2026/2027 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for fully funded postgraduate studies.
According to the official notice, the application portal opened on Friday, 16 January 2026, and will remain open for six weeks, with the deadline set for Friday, 27 February 2026.
The PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme is designed to support the development of skilled Nigerian professionals for the oil and gas sector and related fields. The programme provides opportunities for Nigerian graduates to pursue Master’s (MSc) and Doctorate (PhD) degrees at selected institutions abroad and within Nigeria under a restructured framework.
Under the 2026/2027 scheme:
Fully funded MSc scholarships are available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
Fully funded PhD scholarships are available in Germany, France, and Malaysia.
PhD studies linked to the United Kingdom will be offered as a split-site programme through the PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), in partnership with selected UK universities, including Robert Gordon University, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Portsmouth.
The scholarship package covers key expenses such as tuition fees, flight tickets, health insurance, bench fees where applicable, and living allowances, easing the financial burden on beneficiaries.
Who Can Apply
The scheme is open to Nigerian graduates with strong academic records who are seeking postgraduate degrees in disciplines relevant to the oil and gas industry and other approved fields.
