The Federal Government has assured N-Power beneficiaries that all outstanding stipends will be paid, following ongoing reviews of the programme by relevant authorities.
The assurance was given through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction amid growing concerns from beneficiaries over delayed payments. This comes just hours ahead of a planned nationwide protest scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2026, by affected N-Power participants.
Speaking on the issue, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, confirmed that verified beneficiaries who are owed stipends will receive their payments. He explained that the ministry is currently working closely with the National Social Investment Programs Agency (NSIPA) to review the N-Power scheme and address operational challenges affecting its smooth implementation.
In an official statement released on Monday, Dr. Doro acknowledged the frustrations of beneficiaries and reassured them that their concerns are being taken seriously.
“I am fully aware of the issues surrounding the N-Power programme, and I hear the concerns of all beneficiaries,” the minister stated.
He noted that since assuming office, his focus has been on identifying and fixing gaps within the programme, including payment delays and structural weaknesses that have affected service delivery.
“We are reviewing the programme in collaboration with NSIPA to resolve existing challenges and ensure that all legitimate beneficiaries are treated fairly,” he added.
Engagement With Beneficiaries Ongoing
Dr. Doro further disclosed that he met with representatives of N-Power beneficiaries to discuss their concerns directly. According to him, the meeting provided an opportunity to review complaints related to verification, unpaid stipends, and programme management.
“I met with your leaders earlier today, and we had extensive discussions. All beneficiaries with verified payment issues will be addressed, and outstanding stipends will be paid,” the minister said.
FG Restates Commitment to N-Power Reforms
The minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to reforming the N-Power scheme to make it more effective and sustainable. He stated that future improvements will include clearer programme timelines, better monitoring, and defined exit plans for beneficiaries.
According to him, the reforms align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises social protection, youth empowerment, and sustainable job creation.
What Beneficiaries Should Expect
With the review process nearing completion, arrangements are currently being finalised to disburse payments to eligible and verified beneficiaries. Beneficiaries are advised to ensure their records and verification details are up to date to avoid further delays.
The ministry has urged beneficiaries to remain calm as efforts are being made to resolve outstanding issues and restore confidence in the programme.
