The Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) has expanded its training hubs across Nigeria as part of efforts to improve vocational education and create jobs.

Under its Center for Learning Spaces pillar, the programme is introducing practical, hands-on training designed to help participants gain real work experience. The focus is on apprenticeship, where trainees learn directly from experienced professionals in their chosen fields.

Organisers say the centres are built to help people gain useful skills, grow their confidence, and prepare for steady careers.

Practical Training and Mentorship

The learning model combines classroom lessons with real work exposure. Participants are placed under mentors who guide them through practical tasks that reflect everyday work demands.

The goal is simple: help trainees move from learning theory to applying skills in real business settings.

Business Support for Startups

In addition to skills training, LEEP has set up Business Incubation Hubs within the centres. These hubs support small businesses and startups with tools, equipment, and guidance.

The hubs provide:

  • Access to modern tools and workspaces

  • Mentorship for business growth

  • Support with product development

  • Guidance on operations and planning

By combining training with business support, the programme aims to help new businesses stand on their own.

Shared Workspaces and Collaboration

The centres also operate as shared spaces where entrepreneurs, artisans, and trainees can work side by side. This setup encourages people to share ideas, learn from each other, and build networks.

LEEP says this model helps participants expand their reach and improve their work through cooperation.

Nationwide Presence

Training hubs are currently active in several states, including:

  • Anambra

  • Ebonyi

  • Lagos

  • Ogun

  • Oyo

  • Ondo

  • Adamawa

  • Bauchi

  • Kogi

  • Nasarawa

  • Kwara

  • Plateau

  • Enugu

  • Imo

  • Cross River

  • Delta

  • Kaduna

  • Katsina

  • Kano

  • Taraba

  • Borno

  • Niger

The wide spread across states shows the plan to make skills training available in both urban and rural areas.

Part of the Renewed Hope Agenda

LEEP is part of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is led by Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

The programme aims to create 2.5 million jobs by equipping Nigerians with practical skills and supporting entrepreneurship through partnerships and modern training systems.

By expanding its centres and business support hubs, LEEP hopes to strengthen the workforce and help small businesses grow across the country.
