The Federal Government, through the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has opened an application portal for the Inter-Agency Innovation Competition and Awards, inviting Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to participate and compete for prizes of up to ₦140 million.
The initiative is designed to promote innovation, collaboration, and creativity across government institutions, while encouraging MDAs to develop practical solutions that address critical national challenges. According to NASENI, the competition aligns with its statutory mandate to drive Nigeria’s indigenous industrialisation, create jobs, and support sustainable national development through science and engineering.
The Inter-Agency Innovation Competition specifically targets innovative ideas that can improve efficiency and effectiveness within the public service. By leveraging science and technology, participating MDAs are expected to propose solutions that can enhance service delivery and positively impact citizens’ quality of life.
NASENI stated that submissions are welcome across key sectors such as health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and other areas critical to national growth. The agency noted that the programme is not only a contest for funding but also a platform to identify scalable ideas that can be adopted across government systems.
Participating MDAs are required to submit their entries through the official portal at https://naseni.gov.ng/innovation. NASENI encouraged all eligible agencies to take advantage of the opportunity and contribute ideas capable of unlocking Nigeria’s technological and developmental potential.
The agency added that the competition reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering innovation within the public sector and using locally driven solutions to address long-standing developmental challenges.
