The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has assured students and stakeholders that student loan approvals and other key services will continue without interruption, despite a temporary shift to remote work.
The Fund said the adjustment follows a scheduled fumigation and sanitation exercise at its office, which will run from Tuesday, 23 December 2025, until the end of the year. The exercise is part of measures to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for staff and visitors.
NELFUND explained that while physical access to the office will be limited during this period, essential operations will remain active through remote work systems already in place. Only minimal staff will be present on-site to handle critical functions.
Speaking on the arrangement, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of NELFUND, Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, said staff welfare informed the decision, especially for employees who may be more vulnerable during fumigation.
“Staff safety remains paramount,” Sawyerr said. “While the fumigation exercise is necessary, we have taken deliberate steps to ensure that no employee is unnecessarily exposed to any potential health risk.”
According to the Fund, its digital infrastructure allows loan processing, approvals, stakeholder engagement, and internal coordination to continue smoothly without the need for full physical presence at the office. NELFUND noted that its systems were designed to support continuity and accountability even during temporary disruptions.
The Fund added that the remote work arrangement will not affect students applying for loans or those awaiting approval decisions. All applications will continue to be reviewed as scheduled, with updates provided through official channels.
NELFUND thanked students and the general public for their understanding and reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, efficient, and student-focused education financing services across Nigeria.
