Nigeria Police Opens Recruitment Portal for 50,000 Constable Positions for 2026 Intake

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has officially announced the commencement of recruitment for 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
This exercise follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aimed at strengthening community policing, improving internal security, and expanding the manpower of the Force.

According to the PSC, the Police recruitment portal will open to eligible Nigerians starting Monday, 15 December 2025, and will close on Sunday, 25 January 2026. All applications must be submitted through the official portal:  www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng

Recruitment Approved to Boost Community Policing

The new intake is expected to support ongoing reforms and ensure that police formations across the country have adequate personnel.
The PSC noted that the recruitment process will follow strict guidelines and will be transparent, credible, and merit-based.

The Commission added that no payment is required at any stage of the application, warning Nigerians to beware of fraudsters claiming to offer recruitment assistance.

Entry Categories for the 2025 NPF Recruitment

Applicants may apply under General Duty or any of the approved Specialist categories.

General Duty Constables

These officers will serve in regular operational roles nationwide.

Specialist Cadre

  • Medicals

  • Transport (Drivers, Mechanics, Auto-Electricians)

  • EOD–CBRN

  • K9 Unit

  • Mounted Troop

  • Marine

  • Artisans

  • Tailoring

  • Communication

  • Information Technology

  • Band Section

Qualifications for General Duty Applicants

Candidates applying under the General Duty Cadre must have:

  • GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics

  • Results obtained in no more than two sittings

Qualifications for Specialist Cadre Applicants

Applicants for the Specialist Cadre must have:

  • GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalents

  • At least four (4) credits, including English Language and Mathematics

  • Results in no more than two sittings

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the relevant field

  • Required Trade Tests or recognised certifications

Specialist fields include mechanics, drivers, medical assistants, ICT personnel, communications, artisans, tailoring, marine operations, and other technical support roles.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the 2026 Police Constable recruitment, candidates must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth

  • Be aged 18–25 years for General Duty

  • Be aged 18–28 years for Specialists

  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit

  • Meet the minimum height requirements (General Duty only):

    • 1.67m for males

    • 1.64m for females

  • Satisfy all other conditions listed on the recruitment portal

Follow the steps below to complete your application:

1. Visit the PSC Recruitment Announcement

2. Open the Official Application Portal

3. Create an Account

Register with your NIN, email address, and phone number.

4. Complete the Online Form

Fill in your personal information, select your preferred category, and upload the required documents.

5. Review and Submit

Ensure all information is accurate before submitting.

6. Print the Acknowledgement Slip

This will be required during physical screening.

7. Await Shortlisting Updates

Successful applicants will be invited for physical screening, document checks, aptitude tests, and medical evaluations.

The recruitment portal will be open for six (6) weeks:

  • Opening Date: Monday, 15 December 2025

  • Closing Date: Sunday, 25 January 2026

The Commission stated that no individual or group has been authorised to collect money or guarantee placement for applicants.
