The Nigerian Army has dismissed online reports claiming that the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment for 2026 has begun.

In an official clarification, the Army described the information circulating on social media and some websites as false and misleading, stressing that no approval has been given for the commencement of any DSSC recruitment exercise.

The clarification was issued by Colonel Anele Appolonia, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, who explained that the Nigerian Army has not released any application form or authorised any announcement relating to DSSC Course 29 or any other commissioning programme at this time.

According to the Army, the fake notice being shared online did not originate from any recognised military channel and should be completely ignored by the public.

The Army further stated that it has not commenced recruitment or commissioning for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC). Nigerians were advised to rely only on official communication whenever recruitment exercises are approved. Check out our Nigeria Army Recruitment 2026: How to Apply & Requirements

The military reassured the public that any genuine recruitment process will always be announced through verified platforms such as the official Nigerian Army website, its confirmed social media accounts, and widely circulated national newspapers.

The Army also issued a strong warning against fraudsters who exploit public interest in military recruitment by spreading fake notices to deceive unsuspecting applicants. It emphasized that no fee is charged at any stage of recruitment into the Nigerian Army.

Members of the public with information about individuals or groups involved in fake recruitment schemes were encouraged to report such activities to the nearest security agency for appropriate action.

The Nigerian Army urged Nigerians, especially job seekers, to remain alert and avoid sharing or acting on unverified recruitment information.
