PanAfrican Capital Foundation (PAC Foundation) has completed the third cohort of its Girls Can Code (GCC) programme, empowering 100 young women with practical digital and Virtual Assistant (VA) skills to improve employability and income opportunities.
The initiative, delivered in partnership with ALX Nigeria, focused on equipping participants with hands-on digital competencies, career readiness support, and confidence to compete in the growing freelance and remote work economy.
Participants received structured training in core virtual assistance skills, alongside professional development sessions designed to prepare them for real-world work environments. The programme emphasized digital confidence, workplace professionalism, and long-term career sustainability.
Speaking on the impact of the programme, Omolola Ojo, Executive Secretary of PAC Foundation, explained that the initiative was designed to unlock opportunities beyond training alone.
According to her, Girls Can Code is structured to help young women build financial independence, self-belief, and clarity about the possibilities available within the digital economy.
The programme recorded strong outcomes, achieving an 87 percent attendance rate and an 84 percent certification rate, exceeding initial targets. Participants also rated their learning experience highly, with an average satisfaction score of 4.75, reflecting the relevance and quality of the training.
Several graduates have already transitioned into freelance and remote work roles, while others were selected and trained as mentors to support peer learning and extend the programme’s impact.
Oluwayomi Tobi-Ayegun, Programs and Evaluation Manager at PAC Foundation, noted that the results highlight the importance of intentional programme design that combines skills, tools, and support systems.
Beneficiaries described the programme as transformational, citing increased confidence, clarity in the digital space, and exposure to global work opportunities.
Girls Can Code forms part of PAC Foundation’s broader commitment to gender inclusion, digital literacy, and youth empowerment. The Foundation has reaffirmed plans to expand the programme, enabling more young women to build sustainable careers in Nigeria’s digital economy.
