The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has begun displaying attendance records for beneficiaries of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme on the official TVET portal. This update allows trainees to see their attendance percentage directly from their dashboard and confirm whether their participation has been properly recorded.

Attendance tracking is a key requirement under the TVET scheme. It affects not only certification at the end of training but also eligibility for monthly stipends and other benefits attached to the programme. For this reason, beneficiaries are advised to log in regularly and confirm that their records are accurate.

TVET Attendance Records Now Showing on the Portal

According to the Federal Ministry of Education, attendance data for TVET trainees is being uploaded to the central system and reflected on each beneficiary’s dashboard.

Once logged in, trainees can view:

  • Their total attendance count

  • Attendance percentage

  • Current attendance status

The Ministry explained that attendance is recorded using biometric verification at training centres. This means physical presence and proper sign-in during training sessions are required for attendance to count.

This system was introduced to reduce disputes, prevent manipulation, and ensure that only active participants benefit from the programme.

Why Attendance Is Important Under the TVET Programme

Attendance under the TVET initiative is not just for record-keeping. It directly determines whether a beneficiary will receive payment and certification.

The Ministry has made it clear that attendance data on the dashboard is the final reference point for:

  • Monthly stipend payments

  • Completion status

  • Issuance of certificates

Verbal assurances or manual attendance registers will not override what appears on the TVET portal.

Minimum Attendance Required for TVET Payment

The Federal Ministry of Education has set a minimum attendance benchmark for all TVET beneficiaries.

To qualify for payment and certification, a trainee must record at least 65 percent attendance.

Any trainee who falls below this threshold may experience:

  • Delayed payments

  • Partial payments

  • Complete disqualification from payment

This is why beneficiaries are strongly encouraged to monitor their attendance early, rather than waiting until payments are due.

Why Some TVET Beneficiaries Are Seeing “No Data”

Several trainees have reported that their attendance section shows “No Data,” even though they have been attending training sessions consistently.

The Ministry has acknowledged this issue and clarified that attendance records are being uploaded in stages. This means:

  • Not all centres are updated at the same time

  • Older attendance records may appear later

  • Dashboard updates may take several days

Beneficiaries seeing “No Data” are advised not to panic, but to continue checking their dashboard while ensuring they keep attending and signing in properly at their centres.

Common Attendance Mistakes That Cause Payment Issues

Some payment problems are linked to avoidable errors. These include:

  • Failing to complete biometric sign-in at training centres

  • Late arrival after attendance has been captured

  • Incorrect personal details on the TVET portal

  • Using a different name format from the one used during registration

Trainees are advised to report any of these issues early through their training centre or official Ministry channels.

What TVET Beneficiaries Should Do Right Now

To stay eligible and avoid payment delays, all beneficiaries should:

  • Log in to the TVET portal frequently

  • Check attendance percentage after training sessions

  • Confirm that their name and training centre are correct

  • Ensure bank details are accurate and active

  • Report missing or incorrect records promptly

Early action reduces the risk of payment issues later in the programme.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Check Your TVET Attendance Record

To check your attendance status:

  1. Visit the official TVET website: https://www.tvet.education.gov.ng

  2. Log in using your registered email or details

  3. Access your dashboard

  4. Locate the attendance section to view your percentage

Beneficiaries are advised to check their dashboard at least once a week.

Important Reminder for TVET Beneficiaries

The TVET programme is designed to support skills development and youth empowerment, but benefits are tied strictly to participation. Attendance records on the portal are now the main basis for payment and certification.

Staying informed, checking your dashboard regularly, and correcting issues early will help you complete the programme without unnecessary setbacks.
